In particular cases, the Trolley-PayPal integration will not be able to transmit payment instructions directly to PayPal. In these situations, all of the details for a batch of payments can be generated via one click in Trolley and imported directly into PayPal by you, the user.

Note: In this situation, the Trolley-PayPal integration will still monitor your PayPal account and record payments in Trolley for record-keeping/tax purposes.

Create a CSV for export from Trolley

Add PayPal Payments to a batch in Trolley

You can go ahead and build your batch in Trolley as usual. This batch should include only PayPal payments.

  1. Go to Payments.

  2. Then select the Create Payment button. (Option of manually entering payments or uploading a CSV file)

  3. Select Add Payment and search for the recipient/s you would like to send funds to.

Note: When you create a payment, we automatically create a Batch to group those payments together.

  4. Enter the Payment Amount you would like to send to each recipient.

Export the PayPal Import file

Once your batch is complete, you can export the batch by clicking the "..." menu next to the "Send Payments" button. Then press "Download PayPal import file."

Import the CSV into PayPal

Option 1: Upload PayPal import file at paypal.com/payoutsweb/batchFileUpload

  1. Upload the file generated in Trolley.

  2. Just so you know, you do not need to add an email subject or message. Trolley will send your regular payment confirmation emails to recipients (if enabled).

  3. Select the acknowledgment box confirming that PayPal cannot reverse incorrect emails/phone numbers unless the funds are unclaimed for 30 days.

  4. Click Continue. PayPal scans your payment file for errors.

If the file is valid, the Review Your Payments Details page displays.

  5. Click Send Payout to process your payments file.

Option 2: Use the Mass Pay Tool

  1. Navigate to the "Send Money" page.

    1. Enter the following in your browser's address bar or click the link: paypal.com/myaccount/transfer/homepage/pay

    2. Menu > Pay & Get Paid > Make Payments > Send Money

    3. Quick links > Send money

  2. On the "Send Money" page, select the Make a Mass Payment option on the right sidebar.

  3. From the Choose Payouts Recipients page, click Browse, select your payment file, and then click Open. If you upload a file with the same content as a file you've uploaded within 30 days, PayPal lets you know it could be a duplicate payout.

  4. You do not need to add an email subject or message. Trolley will send your regular payment confirmation emails to recipients (if enabled).

  5. Click Continue. PayPal scans your payment file for errors. If the file is valid, the Review Your Payments Details page displays.

  6. Click Send Payout to process your payments file.
